Check Engine Light Comes On

I HAVE A 1992 FORD BRONCO THAT I JUST PUT A NEW MOTOR IN AND A MASS AIR CONVERSION ON.MY QUESTION IS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND IT GETS WORSE PULLING MY SMALL TRAILER AND FOURWHEELER.BUT YOU CAN TURN OFF THE OVERDRIVE AND THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AGAIN UNTIL YOU TURN THE OVERDRIVE BACK ON.I HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT SHOPS CHECK FOR CODES AND BOTH SAY THE SAME THING THAT THER IS NO CODES IN IT.IT HAS A E4OD IN IT IS THERE ANY WAY TO CHECK TRANSMISSION CODES.I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO A TRANS SHOP. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

What computer did you use for the mass air conversion?

Hmm. 96 was OBDII I think. Do you have any codes? I would start with finding the codes if you haven't already. I think transmission codes would be in the engine computer. I'm not really sure how the setup you have works, because I have a manual transmission. Does the truck run ok other than having the engine light on?

ok well first off this sound kinda intersting ur bronco is a 92 right? when u changed the motor and mass air flow sensor did u change the computer and testing ports as well and did u change any senosrs on the tranny as well remember when u change a program and leave older parts with old programing in them then ur hurting more then winning.

If it's a 95 computer (I suspect it is) then you will be able to test it yourself because it should be OBDI. Have you double checked the timing? You are running two computers with the lightning kit, right? The engine computer may be what gets tested and it comes up clean, but the computer that runs the transmission might be where the codes are. Not sure how you can check those.

the mass air kit come with a new computer that you replace your OEM computer with . It also controls the E4OD transmission that is reason for having to have the mass air kit for a lightning according to ford racing. Idid not have to change any sensors and you use the original test port.

I guess I was mistaken about the lightning kit running two computers in parallel. I'm about out of ideas now. Hope you can find out something.
