I have a 2017 F250 SD 4X4 with a 6.7 Liter in it. the truck has 145K miles and I idle a lot as I am job sites almost every day and the truck is my office.
My truck regens constantly @ 1000 RPMS and stinks when it does - The truck will regen to to three times in an hour of idle time........

What's wrong or is this normal ?

I don't think those are "regens".
The factory settings do not allow stationary regens, they must be forced with special software.
Is it really cold where you are at?
The truck will go to high idle in cold weather.
These trucks are programed to elevate the idle during prolonged idling to handle unburned hydrocarbons in the SCR (according to Ford). Doesn't matter if it's cold or hot out. Could be like a mini regen.

OK - this last response makes sense...............
So I have to live with it or delete it

I will say that I haven't experienced this myself, since I don't idle for long, but I have read that tapping the brake or accelerate pedal will stop it but only temporarily. Apparently it will idle up again after several minutes.
For anyone who idles their truck a lot, the high idle should be set up and used any time prolonged idling takes place.
Idling any ICE engine at low rpm for extended periods is bad for them, and is especially so for emissions regulated engines.
Way back when I drove 18 wheelers and we idled overnight, we always set a high idle speed.
What you're smelling is the DEF which is injected to help the SCR function during high idle. DEF is referred to as "Cows Urine" for a reason.
Nothing out of the norm as far as function for a diesel sitting idle while you work in the cab.
that smell is not the DEF. It is the DPF. My excavator does this in re-burns/idling. It does not have DEF on it! The smell is kinda a sweetish smell. My trucks do it sometimes as well.
How often are you going through def on 2020+ trucks? I purchased a 2020 and I've gone through about 1 3/4 tanks of gas and Def doesn't appear to have moved at all. Not sure if that's normal.

Takes a very long time to use up DEF in my '20. Even with stop and go non-highway driving. Last time I filled up with DEF the gauge said that I was good for 6K miles. So, not unusual.
