I feel fortunate my 2018 5.0 seems to have missed this problem. At 80,000+ miles it runs as good as the day I bought it. I have used Mobil 1 since the first oil change. Who knows if that made a difference, it's just my preferred brand. I've been using Mobil 1 since they quit making Gulf Pride Multi G. :-)
Another unexpected oddity is that it now regularly gets 24 - 25 mpg on the highway, where it spends most of its time. Our 2021 Expedition with the EB 3.5 could barely get 21 on its best day on the same roads.
I spoke with the Ford dealership this morning about my 2020 F150 w/5.0 engine using 1 quart every 2140 miles. I know a TSB was issued for it before I owned it. I was told..."Ford won't consider it excess usage unless it uses 1 quart every 3000 miles and won't do anything about it". Am I missing something here? 1 Qt. per 2140 miles vs 1 Qt. per 3000 miles seems more excessive usage to me although I do admit I almost flunked math in school.
You aren’t wrong. Find another dealer that answers the phone and knows basic math.
If you like the truck, oil drinking aside, you can DM that Bluegrass fellow a few posts up and ask for his formula on solving his oil consumption issue.
