i need some info on hoppin up a 1985 300ci 6banger.its in a bronco i got cheap but running, and want to restore it but with a stronger running 6.this is a winter project and need some help gettin startedheard you can get 600hp out of 300 ci 6 cyl.all help who can thanks
Not sure if an 85 bronco is the same, but I have an 85 f150, my first project is going to be to swap in a Duraspark II ignition. I have the feedback carb and eec-iv ignition and my timing won't advance. From what I've heard the 300 is a great engine, it is reliable and puts out lots of torque at a low rpm. I could be wrong, but I don't think 600 hp out of a 300 is possible. Hope you like your bronco.
to wake that six up the easiest way is to first do the duraspark conversion, then headers and four barrel intake, and also the crane cams cam ......that is the most common for the straight six and easily available....after that it is head porting and all that good kind of stuff
Just completed my duraspark swap...removed a huge amount of wires and threw the eec on the ground and pissed on it...lol jk anyway, it's really nice. throttle response is amazing! I'm still using the TFI feedback carb, I was thinking about upgrading to a 2bbl and getting the adapter..i only paid $50 for my bronco so I cant justify spending too much money on it..lol
yeah alot of straight six fanatics out there they can all tel you how theyve gotten unbelieveable power from those motors. id start with intake and exhaust get it breathing througth more than a one barrel either 2 or 4 i think 500cfm is more than youll ever need so a 450cfm 2bbl would do just fine and get the exhaust opened up some there are alot of places that sel thsi stuff, cliffordperformance.com, jcwhitney, fordsix.com. and a fw more i cant think of.
the 600 hp mark is achievable but i dont know if you want to drive in on the street or the racetrack. get that ignition woke up install the duraspark ignition and a good quality coil. if its sucking blowing and firing than its gotta be doing good.
