I very rarely post about a bad experience, because frankly who has the time. But, as the cost was so high I hope I can help others not make the same mistake.
A couple of months ago I finally took the plunge on making significant upgrades to my Excursion. The first was suspension/tires. After much deliberation, and direct conversations with Icon tech support, I went with Icon 5" full system, springs, shocks, etc. As most of you know, that's a spendy system, plus install. Two months and about $8,000 later, I'm profoundly disappointed by virtually every metric. Icon customer service/managers started off bad, progressed to worse, and now they're completely unresponsive.
If you're considering Icon, I highly recommend you think about spending a little more and going with Carli or Full Traction. If those aren't options, spend a little less on the lift and go premium on the shocks. Whatever you do, please don't make the mistake of I did. I don't know if Icon has new ownership, or just cares about selling to big retailers, but they surely don't seem to care about the individual anymore.
That's rough bro. A lot of these businesses are nothing more than the name anymore, making bank on the reputation that was built years past.
One of the biggest reasons why I pieced my suspension together to be what I want from several sources. Mostly PMF.
Icon's reputation (at least from what I've seen/ heard) is more a show than go type product. Like if you want your street truck lifted with 24 inch rims, rubber band tires, under-glow lights and never intent to actually drive the truck off-road, then Icon is your jam.
The others you mentioned (Carli, Full Traction and I'd throw in Thuren too) are more expensive, but they're also targeted more for those that are actually gonna use/ drive the trucks, not the ones that park them at the mall and sync their under-glow lights with the terrible music blasting out of the cab like Icon lifted trucks. And lets face it, there is actually are larger market for the lifted street trucks with under-glow lights than there is for actual performance enhancing lift kits, so its really not surprising the manufactures have more offerings for that segment of the aftermarket, sad maybe, but not surprising.

I have had good experience with my Pro-Comp lift once i got the kinks worked out that were put in by the dorks who first installed it, at this point i am very happy with the 6 inch lift, it has definitely been a step forwards, not backwards, once the truck was straightened out, a bad installer can make even the best product seem like crap.
I have always believed that spring lifts are the best, and that's what mine is, no lift blocks front or rear, but actual taller springs.
Icon used to be one of the better names out there, but something happened to the quality of the products. I've got some 2.5 RR shocks on my Land Cruiser that ended up leaking within 6 months of ownership. Same thing happened on a Tundra that I installed 2.5 RR coil-overs on and sold to my buddy. Then my friend with a Tacoma had leaking shocks from Icon. This is all within the last 5 years. I have stopped recommending them.
Curious to the original poster ... what issues are you experiencing in specific?
