Yes, I just replaced my 1995 wires just last year myself, albeit with less than 200k miles on them.
Time makes them brittle and susceptible to deterioration.
Lasted a good long time though.

Something no one has mentioned is your poor MPG could be fuel transfer between tanks & they almost all do it.

When I had checked my gas mileage. I had filled both tanks and used combined mileage on both to check my gas mileage. The result was 7.5 for both tanks.

right but if you have two full tanks, and one is filling the other... the inactive full tank will spill out going down the road because you can't put 20 gallons in a 19 gallon tank. So you are losing fuel and it isnt even going through the engine.

It runs smoothly and has adequate power, it does start rough when warm though.
