swap help
alright well im working on my solid axle swap right now and thats going sloww...but ive been thinking of swapping motors cause this 351w i have is very tired(256,000).ive been dumping money in it like a dummy trying to get it to pass smog, yeh im from cali( .well ive dumped enough money that i could have bought a new motor.anyway i wanna swap a '90's 5.0 in.my question is has anyone done this before or does anyone have some write ups?i wanna go simple,my motor now is terrible, too many dang vacuums and wires,'81 was the worst year of broncos in my opinion.so i figured 5.0 would be simple(to a point)...
anything helps, thanks,Sean...

I enjoy having eairly 80s truck, wouldnt have it any other way. Both my 83 w/ 351w and my 82 with 302 are very simple and have the just the basics to run the engine, but this is texas, and I don't know about cali. emmissions. A 90s 302 or 351w is gonna have fuel injection. You could just rebuild the 351 and get it better than stock, you can get more power out of it than a 302.
i was thinking maybe just use the block and get it rebuilt,go out to a wrecking yard and pull all the fuel injection stuff and swap it.would it be hard for the wiring you think?what is the horse power for a windsor?...thanks
I think the hp is fairly close between the 302 and 351.
But because of the longer stroke, the 351 has more low end torque.
You could use the everything but the intake. I think you would be happier with a 351w. I wish I could still drive my 83 w/ 351w
My 82 302 has plenty of power, but that w had some extra git up and go too it.
