Chuck, I doubt your 83 has a computer. If it does it's at, or hooked to the distributor. I don't even think EEC IV was being used in 83. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I just finished the conversion to Duraspark II today. The conversion was started by the previous owner. He had removed/changed/messed up a lot of stuff. Below is a picture of what I'm asking about. Edit: I checked the title and verified it's a 1983.

Go into your user control panel and add a signature of your truck: year, model, motor size (EFI & size if efi), transmission so we know what you have.
I know you PM me and I think you have a 302 w/EFI but not sure as I read & help all ove and I for get who has what.

Removed the bench seat in preparation for installing the free Focus buckets. That allowed me to take a better picture of the 'computer' located under the drivers side of the bench. Here they are as requested... This pic gives a reference as to location. Closeup
There is a box about 8" x 2" x 6" under the drivers seat on my '83. Could this be the old computer?
Chuck
My '83 F250 is an ex Californian EEC-III truck. It was originally a feedback-carbed 302 & has the computer under the drivers seat like yours.
I de-smogged the truck quite a few years ago, so the computer is no longer functioning but, yes, that is what you have.
You might also find the original build sheet under the floormat/insulation. Mine was on the transmission hump.
