Brake question

I have problems with either the brake booster or master cylinder. When I press the brake pedal it sucks brake fluid through the vacuum line into the engine. Do I need to replace the master cylinder or brake booster?

I would say it is your master cylinder.

Its the brake booster. Thats the only thing connected to the motor via a vacuum lines.

On second thought its both of them. Your master cylinder is leaking into the brake booster, and with the fluid in there, you will have a leak in the booster in no time.

Well I checked on the price for the power booster and it's not much more to replace both. I think your right though about the master cylinder leaking into the booster and now the booster is leaking.

yeah, you can usually get one out a junk yard for about $35.

i had to replace mine in the middle of winter last year.

Try to find a truck that has the same mounting bracket ont he back. Mine was weird, and the an ones are different. F100 and F250/350 ones are different.

If you have any selection available you should be able to find one that matches.
That little plastic bushing around the bolt that holds it to the pedal is very weak, make sure to grab a few if you can.
