Next upgrade?

Hello, I have a 1992 F250 with a 460. I recently had the engine replaced and as usual, for most 460 guys I want better fuel mileage and more power. The truck is pretty much completely stock. What are your guy's opinions and ideas for the first few performance upgrades to get more power and better fuel mileage?

I suspect efficiency is where you want to be looking at. Better heads would be where I would start. A mild cam and exhaust would be part of the cylinder head job.

Thankyou for the advice I will keep that in mind. Is there anything I can do more so on the bolt on side of things? I ain't gonna rebuild the engine for a while so for now what exhaust system would be best for power and engine health? Also what can I do for intake work?
Thankyou for your responses.

Service the differentials. Replace fluids with either Amsoil or Lucas products.
Run a few extra PSI's in the tires. Wyoming is cold and tires get low pressure.
Take the covers off of the lock out hubs on the front axle and lube everything with grease so they work effortlessly.
Make sure your brakes are releasing properly.
All low cost items.

________________________
1) Differentials are one of the most neglected item on the power train. Dirty, greasy and you can't "pull codes"... Old school mechanics.
2) On a "vintage" truck they are one of the most expensive components to replace, if you can find parts.
3) Once you get under there you will notice if the seal on the input shaft has been leaking. A good indication the fluid is low.
4) When you pull the cover off to drain the oil you can see if there are very many shavings in the bottom of the housing.
5) The outboard wheel bearing's (on many vehicles) get their lubrication from the oil in the differential. Wheel bearing failure is an indication of low oil level..
6) Having to roll around under the truck forces an inspection of everything else under there. A few examples - U Joints, hanger bearing, emergency brake cable, engine oil leaks, lose wiring, rust on frame, etc,

Call this a "Good Start" inspection.
