Replacing bed side

I have acquired a doner bed to remove the passenger side from to attach to my bed with damaged ( bent)passenger side. How and where do you cut the beds to join them to make a good bed? I see a doubled vertical flange about 1" wide under the bed floor that runs the length of the bed (short), they are about 2 inches from inside wheel arch, and was wondering if this is where they should be separated. Can you cut the crossmembers from the bed floor and reuse them. My and donor truck are rust free georgia trucks. Thanks for experienced advice.

There are flanges at the front and back that are spot welded that you need to remove the spots from, then the inner fender flange welds. The top rail is also spot welded to the inner bed wall. It's not as difficult as doing the floor of supports. Just drop the tailgate and look at where the spots are, and look at the front of the box behind the cab, you should see the spots there. Grind down the spots and use a thin chisel to pop the spots, and the side should lift off the bed.
