I bought a good quality patch panel on Ebay...excellent thickness, no dings etc. Problem is, the profile looks wrong to me. It was listed as a 73-79 gen Ford pickup but I'm pretty sure it isn't, most likely a later generation. Specifically the 'flats' seem too sharp and when I go to weld this in, it won't seam in correctly.
The seller has been OK, but doesn't seem to know much about this product (guessing a drop ship). Last request from him was 'what car do you have?'
Can folks comment if this profile also looks 'off' to them from a 73-79 bed perspective. The width of the raised sections is correct by the way.
And...if someone has a good source for patch panels, please let me know. Old beds around here are not an option - Northeast is not kind to our rigs. Thanks alot. John
I agree those "breaks" to change the angle seem also "sharp". Our beds have more of a roll over. Just send it back, request your money back, simple as that. You do know that up to a 96 is suppose to be the same floor. Some say get a 96 bed cut the bed sides off (drill out spot welds), spot weld on older bed sides on. Well of course do not make a major purchase based off what I think is correct info. But I seem to remember someone on here getting a mid 90's bed and doing the bed side swap. Keep us posted on what you get worked out.
The panels from LMT look like your ebay parts. I found a seller parting out a 74 F250 on craigslist and purchased the entire bed. As stated, drilled out the spot welds and replaced my rusty old floor.
Time consuming, but not dififcult. I paid $300 for the entire bed and drove 200 miles round trip.
