Anyone know what rear axle is used in a 2000 Ford Excursion 2wd V10?
I think it's either a Ford 10.5" or a Dana 80. The illustration in the CD manual I've got isn't clear enough to see, although from the back, it looks like the picture of the Dana.
I saw a post awhile back by a guy that said he swapped a 3.73 for a 4.10 in his truck (thought it was a superduty?) because a 4.30 wouldn't fit? Would one of these fit that description?
Thanks
(I posted this over in the drivetrain forum without reply. Shoulda given you guys first crack!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Jan-03 AT 00:55 AM (EST)]It's around $325 per in parts per axle, this includes the ring & pinion set and master install kits. If you can do it yourself you can save a lot of $$ on labor. Around here its around $350-500 install per axle depending on the shop. Some of the other guys here might have a set of used 4.30s if they went to a lower gear, not sure how many guys have done this though (I don't think many).
