I am hoping someone here can help me with this. I have been playing with the carburetor on my bone stock 1978 f150 Custom with a 351m engine. It is a motorcraft 2150 tag #D7TE-AYA and I was wondering how to find out if the booster is original to the carb. On the bottom of the booster is stamped a large L and then a smaller M2 next to it. I ask because I found an exact copy of this carb (another d7teaya) on ebay so bought it for spare parts, and lo and behold it has a different booster in it, this one has a large A and next to it a smaller 3Y. I can tell looking this booster has smaller air bleed holes on top than the other. Am curious which one is supposed to go with this carb - obviously one of them was swapped. It might make tuning a little easier. Any help would be appreciated !

Just cause the boosters look different and have different markings doesn't mean it isn't designed to work. If one is from a rebuild kit, It could even be an "improved" design to overcome flaws in the original design. Smaller air bleeds could mean a slightly bigger squirt of fuel, which really isn't a bad thing. It could make the transition from idle/low throttle to mid/ high throttle smoother.
