How to install digital dash clock first time?
I would like to replace the stock black-plastic-placeholder in the dashboard of my 1984 F-250
by the time-correct digital clock
Unfortunately it looks that the current black-plastic-placeholder field is somehow fix/connected with the entire dashboard …
(I know the radio is not stock and needs to be replaced aswell)
Any advise for that swap?
IIRC the clock is part of the main harness but many years since I messed with the clock.
The wiring is not that big a deal once you know the wire colors and what they do.
Now for that panel there are 2 ways to go about this.
Find a panel that is for a clock with the openings open - good luck on that as most are cut for a different radio or wrong wood grain.
Cut yours open for a clock.
I was lucky that my parts truck had one or I got 1 off Ebay that was for a clock but was cut for a different radio
but was usable. The one that came with my truck was all black and had been painted many times by a PO and broken.
Removing the paint did not go well and it was broken pretty good too.
The clock I got off Ebay think had a different plug but came with the pig tail so was able to splice it into work once I found what the wire colors did.

I removed the radio/clock panel in my Bullnose truck once. I don't recall that it was super difficult. Just look for screws down low and start by removing the ash tray.
