Heater Control Valve Replacement Tip
96 4.0L Extended XLT
Heater Control Valve (HCV) cracked a couple of days ago. After discovering that this is an OEM part, I called several dealers trying to find one. Every parts guy had the same story - it wasn't a stocked item, and all of them charged the same price - $41.00. I should say all but one parts guy. This individual went on to say that the reason they don't stock it is because the same part for the Explorer is identical in every way except for the stock number and the price. It's $23.00 cheaper and all the dealers stock it. He also said it is interchangeable for matching model year, Aerostar to Explorer.
