Finally got my 65' back together again and actually drove it. I would like to thank Mike McDermott, among others, for the paint detail pictures. Of course it's not the original color but I like it and the original color probably wouldn't match the theme of the truck.
Anyhow its got a 68' Mercury 390, the column and c6 from a 70', a 78' front end , the 3.54 rear end from a 79' and a 65' tailgate. I did manage to find a 65' grill and replaced the 66' that was on it.
It's the Caribbean Turquoise and Wimbledon White, Typo it's a 68' tailgate I also put in the American auto wire kit. As most of you know it started out as fix the oil leaks and snowballed.
I'd like to drive it when it's nice all year but I live on a gravel road and it's 3/4 mile to blacktop that's my biggest roadblock in the spring and winter. Did take it out today and the speedometer quit. I unscrewed the cable from the trans and about 1 inch of it is broken off. At least I'll always have something to do.
Outer cable melted on the exhaust inner cover looks kind of like a screen material must have filled up with the melted plastic. Another day anther dollar.
Nice truck and nice work ,the rocker on driver side, did you cut that out of parts truck or can I buy that replacement piece kinda like a cab corner. Mines not that bad, I think I can form the piece but you know time saved
The piece where the door hinge goes was bought from Carolina classics I replaced both sides and since you're only losing one of the bolt holes there really isn't an alignment problem when you go back together as you can spread or compress the hinge if you have to. They were nicely made and a good fit.
