My Dad has a 1991 Ranger w/manual trans and I think a 4 cylinder engine . The problem is that one minute it will turn over 2 or 3 times and not start then a little later it will fire right up and run perfectly . He's afraid to drive it cause it might leave him stranded . Any help from you guys so I try to fix it for him would be very thankful .
Hi cody41,
Be sure to check into all the threads in this + other Forums for a resolution to your question.
It may be just a simple grounding problem.
Check all electrical contacts for rusty conditions.
I know that my '90 Ranger has plenty of of it (rust)!
Try cycling the key on for 2 seconds, off on 2 seconds, off. do this 4 times then turn to start. If it fires right up check the fuel pressure. Might be a weak fuel pump.
