Geez, you jackhammers are full of good points

Just make sure you use grade 8 bolts when you bolt on those tow hooks.

AND, if you do weld them on, make sure you stress relieve the welds. This goes for anytime you have to weld on your frame. Heat fatigue is a bad thing, but it can be mimimized.

The BEST tip for getting a truck out of the muck is to have a LARGE member of your party sit on the lowered tailgate (or at the very end of the bed) while extracting the vehicle. There are times (especially 2wd) that this trick will work without another vehicle, but I have also used this trick while tugging with another vehicle. I pulled a 4x4 toyota off the top of a dune using this trick. This guy had high centered his truck and then kept flooring it until he was on his frame. I tried just to tow him out first, but I just kept digging in while his truck remained motionless. I had two buddies jump in the back of his truck (and duck behind the tailgate because a strap can KILL TOO) and when we both hit the gas his truck came right out! It doesn't seem like much but the added traction can work miracles.

I've snapped one chain too but thanks to the towels it didn't go anywhere
and until I buy a winch thats what I'll use

I really would not mind being towed out by a Toyota 4x4. I figure I have more in common with him then Clinton or Gore who have locked us out of our own land.

good honest advice

i have a 97 f150 on 33"s and got totally stuck/centered/clicked in some nice deep florida mud out by the "prarie" (those of you who know, well know) and was pulled out by an 88 yota p/u on 35" pro comp mt's with open diffs in not the gratest of traction anyway as most people said frame to frame no chains, bad experience watched someone...die...nevermind

if you wanna try something like that wrap a strap (not rope) around your rear tire then attach other end to frame DO NOT 'SMASH IT' you will tear something up
that only works if you have one on each tire or a locker.

But the other idea was a good one. It gives you some yank and stretch out of the chains. I'll remember this one.

the rope will rap around their driveshaft and act as a winch and pull them right out

Dang Ryan, It took you almost 2 months to decide to edit that one. That was my precedence for the last few weeks on how far I could go in a post!!!

Man you have NO clue how much a Toyota saved my *** yesterday.. I was going through some mud and my front end sank down in mud down past my front tires.. couldnt see my 33's at all.. Stuck for 3 hrs until my buddys 5" Lifted toyota w/ 35's got my *** out after deciding to highlift the front end of my truck, and rip it out w/ the truck still jacked up. Risky but i would've been still stuck if it wasnt for that toyota.

The idea of putting a strap around the tire and attaching it to the frame of the other truck. Then slowly hit the gas. it is supposed to wrap the strap around the tire and "winch" it out. But it wont work b/c the other tir wil just spin.

The best time i ever had at the beach (with my clothes on)...
Me and a buddy loaded up the atv' and headed to Carolina Beach. (not supposed to have atv's on the beach, but it was like 10 pm) Around here the cops have Z 71's. Well just so happened we got to the end of the beach and there was one sitting there. (oh sh**) We flew past him and got to the end of the beach. We knew we had to go back past him and so did he. As we were flying down by the water we saw a man standing in front of us with a flashlight. We stopped expecting to get a tichet. Turns out he was out there with his wife (and not a cop) and his 4x4 broke. We rode back and got the truck (yota) and pulled the buried chevy out. They were dredging at the entrance so t was really deep, loose sand. Just so happened he got stuck again and we couldnt budge him. There was a dozer out there kepping the sna dsmoothed down, and he pulled him out. The guy offered to pay us, but we old him watching a chevy get stuck twice was well worth it. Sorry about the long post but i figured it would make you laugh.
