Ok need some Ideas or a direction on where to proceed I have a 2016 F150 XLT 4X4 5.0 it has 92K miles . started out with just a cylinder misfire on #4 and a code for ignition coil D Primary control circuit open
pulled coil found it was melting, checked electrical circuit found a ground that went back to the Ecm once unplugged the computer the ground went away. ordered new computer took truck to dealership to program new computer to Vin. installed new coil pack, dealer programed new computer Engine is good BUT. now there's an issue with the new computer not communicating with the trans module. Ordered a second computer due to possible bad ECM, the new Ecm wont even take a program. I have taken the truck to another dealer with seasoned techs their still having same issue. Any Ideas ???
Since there was (I'm presuming a little bit here) no issue at the beginning of your adventure, I'm going to speculate that there is a connector problem?
GlueGuy, you are correct no issues with the truck till the burnt coil pack. now ford cant seam to program the new Ecm. the first one did correct the short to the coil pack but wouldn't connect with the trans module
