Hi, I just joined to educate myself on the Ford F Series F-150 and F-250 trucks.
I'm trying to figure out which would be better for me for my needs and comfort. I'm looking at living out of one, while traveling for a while, probably with a camper top/not a trailer. I like the idea of doing some off road/BLM camping with it.
'Today, (my opinion slides back and forth) I'm leaning toward an F-250 with Tremor package. I'm probably 6-12 months from making a decision though.
Welcome to FTE. And welcome to the biggest debate a Ford truck owner faces. In my opinion, it boils down to two things. How much weight will be carrying and how big is your pocketbook. If you are talking about a "slide in camper", avoid the 150. Even though they make them, supposedly, for the lighter trucks, they are still a lot of weight. Join your state chapter and find some local folks that have the two trucks. Talk to them and see why they bought what they have. It might help.
. . . and I'll point out that the backlog for manufacturing is pretty long either way. If you wait 6-12 months to order, you might end up waiting 18-24 months (or maybe more) to take delivery.
Thanks. I've been looking hard at the F-250 and do cringe at the pricing. I wonder if I can get away with not getting the Tremor add-on and maybe just FX4. My brother things I would be fine with neither. I do want to be able to take the vehicle off-road on some of these trails I hear about in Colorado and other states. I have no interest in rock-hopping, plus I want to keep the ride comfortable because The majority of the time will be on the blacktop for sure. Was thinking the FX4 might be good just because you get the skid plates plus I think rear locker.
I'm finally going to go to a Ford dealership this week in Ohio to compare both the F-150 and F-250. Hate dealing with car sales people, especially when I am not at a buying stage.

Go rent an F-150 from whoever has one. Then when you go to the dealership you'll only have to test drive an F-250 with a salesman aboard.
