Bob is the oil guy web page supports Blackstone labs, I use them also. I am going to try the combo oil analysis with the Dsyson analysis kit. Basically, they analyze the results and then give me a report on what all the numbers mean in regards to what I attempting to accomplish. Which is extended drain intervals.
They have kits for 10 dollars and another 2 bucks gets you TBN. If something is wrong they contact you by phone and address it on the analysis sheet as well .
Possibly the best deal going for the new to analysis folks that could use interpitation help.
George Morrison is a STLE CLS and his kits are 18 bucks with TBN
I have also used the Shell Care Lab in TX in the past. If I remember correctly it was 10 bucks and ultra fast service .
When those kits start costing too much IMO it's just best to use the money saved to buy oil and change earlier...unless one has money to burn or has one of those cool money growing trees I've heard about yet never seen .
I totally agree with DOHC about the cost. Once I am done figuring out a good interval for this oil, I will just sample once a year to see how everything is going.
I agree that the oil analysis is not cheep. I have read all the post on 5W20, 5W30 and dino vs Moble 1. With the price of new vehicles today I would like more than my "gut" feeling or advertising to guide me.

Concur with everything you are saying! Getting to know the capabilities of the oil I am using now is more expensive than just using Dino at regular intervals.
But the pay off when for extended use will be huge. Plus every drop of oil I save, means less work for me over in the mid east. I would love to see us free of that region. Just think how much this country would save if we all went extended interval.
Just my opinion and not ment to stir up any oil debate.
