Has anyone cranked out a dual pkg. on their 5.0 Explorer?
Looks tight under there --- maybe too tight.
One shop recommended yanking rear cats and then using a two-in / dual outlet muffler from Flowmaster. I often read they cause annoying resonance/vibration noise.
What kind of shop told you they would remove catalytic convertors? It is a federal offense, and the shop can be heavily fined. Yes, it is a tight fit on an expy, but it can be done. I dont know of any off the shelf items that will fit it. Do you tow with it? Over time, the seals over the rear window can deteriorate and fumes can enter the cab....not good. Also, back to the tow comment, most all exhaust manufaturers say that you shouldnt run duals on tow vehicles. BTW, a single three inch side exit exhaust can flow enough for ~360rwhp....which I highly doubt youre 5.0 is pushing out .
Locally owned, non-franchised shop, run by gear-heads.
Nope, no towing.
I considered buying a cat-back system only ... just prefer the dual look and sound. The literature suggests performance and fuel economy improvements --- 50 state legal kit, too!
