I know I am getting gouged at the pumps since the last gas price raise at the end of the summer. The prices have not come down as much as they should IMHO. I notice a range of prices from a low or $1.61 to a high of $2.05 full serve reg. The average price seems to be at $1.69. to $1.77 depending on what neighborhood you are in.
But the proof about the gouging is that I have gone to a station in Brooklyn and paid $1.49!! twice this week. The second time I noticed that the station before it is at $1.47!! That is cheaper than Jersey! How the hell are they making money? (Unless it's one of those shell corp. owning another shell corp. owning another shell of a corp. and they don't pay any of their taxes like the Russians used to do - in NY)
I feel that these stations are whoring out the gas for the .03-.05 cent a gallon profit while all the other stations are conspiring to keep the price high.
I said to the Paki "what is this half water and half gas?"
But the truck runs fine.
I dunno anymore.
Here in mid michigan the version of gouging is to raise the gas prices on thursday or friday. >Wednesday they were $ 1.33 to $1.37 a gallon, Overnight they jumped to $1.50 to 1.60 a gallon. Next monday, they will go down again. I wonder how they justify this?
Yesterday, the Newspaper said gasoline was only 10 cents a gallon in Iraq... AND you get double Eagle Stamps with a fill-up! Just look for the sign of the Twirling Arab...
Regular is about $1.49 here in Ohio. I believe the total tax on that gallon is .47 cents and will soon be going up another.07 cent per gallon thanks to good ol' Gov. Bob Tax...uh I mean Taft.
I paid $1.37 and 9/10 on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning (6:45 a.m.) the same station had it for $1.57 and 9/10 then by Thursday p.m. it was $1.47 9/10. It is like that all the time around here. Just plain *%@*#s me off. I know the local stations are fixing prices cause the market can't fluctuate that much!!
$1.55 a gal. for self serve here in my part of California.
Now for the bad news. Today it was reported in the local paper that Shell Oil Co. is closing down their oil refinery located in Bakersfield, which is where I live. The Bakersfield refinery has been refining curde oil pumped locally for the last twenty plus years. The closure is set to take place sometime next year. They say that there is not enough curde oil to refine. What a crock! Kern County has oil fields galore! The Bakersfield refinery supplies most of our city with its gasoline.
We have more crude oil here than we need. Oil pipe lines ship excess crude oil both directions, north and south of us for refining. Now the oil fields will have to ship their crude south for refining and ship the gasoline back up to us at a higher cost. Refinery turn arounds in the bay area up north and south in Los Angeles will mean gas shortages and higher prices. Back when gas prices were sky high officials said that part of the problem was refinery shut downs. What is going on here?!!!! Another scheme to jack the price of gasoline up by limiting supply by closing down a much needed refinery.

Now I have a question. Are diesel prices affected the same way as gas? At station just down the street, diesel stays pretty regular while gas goes up and down like a roller coaster.
Well hey guys i was fixing to gripe but now that i see how much
your prices fluxuate up north & on the west coast, i would be lying if i said our prices are too high. I live in a town where ther is a monster texaco refinery & i guess that helps to manitain our
prices at a decent level. I use premium & at 1.55 per gallon &
reg at 1.44 per gallon. Now i do know that each state especially
in califorina has an additiave package for every gallon of gas that just keeps adding to the bottom line of $$ per gallon. Just wait
till thanksgiving day weekend. Fyi always try to buy your fuel early in mornings & at one of those places that is 24hrs & only
manned from 7:00 am till 11:00 pm because the attendant will not be there to adjust the prices, thursday is also the best day fridays they go thru the roof.
We had better enjoy cheap gas while we still can. China is about to catch Japan as the second biggest consumer of gas and will one day catch the U.S. as the world's largest consumer. When that happens, the increased demand will drive up the prices way beyond what we complain about today.

You know, I've been trying to find a pattern here in IL for when prices seem to raise. Usually they go up toward the end of the week - around Thursday, however that doesn't always hold true. I drive about 110 every day and my Ranger gets 19-20 mpg highway (that's what 80% of my driving is).
I'm not complaining but if I can second guess the crooked gas czars and get my fill-up before they raise their prices each week I am a happy camper!
