Had a guy drop by selling an "EnergyCel" that was suppose to increase your mileage 2 to 5 MPG, improve power and emissions. It is one of those magnet things you clamp on your fuel line.
Anyone out there tried one of these things? What were your results if you did?
I installed one just over a year ago. I immediately noted reduced rpms at idle (check rpms before you install it). I got 1 to 2 MPG increase within a month on one vehicle (car); not much on the other vehicle (SUV).
An interesting note:
We recently moved to a state with lower fuel octanes (85, compared to the prevous state, 87) and "oxygenated" fuel. The car has increased another 2-3 MPG and the SUV 1-2 MPG.
Feel free to call me if you have any further questions.
My first REAL truck is a 95 F-350 Turbo Diesel 4x4 w/ 180,000 miles. I LOVE IT! Installed an EnergyCel. Went from 14.5mpg to 15.5mpg. Not too impressive. RE-SET COMPUTER (that's the key) and mileage increased to 17.5mpg. That's over a 20% increase in MPG. RPMs dropped 250-300. After a few weeks, mileage increase diminished back to 16mpg. Hmmm... OIL CHANGE NECESSARY (especially on older vehicles) as the more efficient burning of fuel causes engine to burn a little hotter. Mileage now consistently 17.5 to 18.5 MPG. At $110 to fill up my dual-tanked monster, I'm traveling $20 further with every fill-up. Emissions reduces 50%.
Great results on Fords. GMs are having some hose/computer problems.
