Water temp sensor 5.4 L

I've purchased two after market gages (1.Oil Pressure 2. Water Temp) for my 1999 F-150 5.4 L 4x4.
After installing the gages, I started in with installing the sensors. The oil pressure sensor was easy to locate and I installed a "T" so the factory sensor and gage still worked.
As I started to install the "Water Temp Sensor" I found it wasn't where the "Clinton" book showed me it was. I've been looking everywhere for it and still can't find it.
I know there is one because I have a factory gage that works.
I went to the dealer and pulled up two drawings. Neither of them were correct. They showed the sensor in the front area of the intake manifold but...
Does anyone have an idea where this thing is? Do you have any drawings or books that may show other locations? I've thought of pulling the wire behind the gage cluster and look for something that wiggles but...

I believe the 5.4 uses the signal from the cylinder head temperature sender to operate the gauge. This isnt a normal coolant temperature sender so you couldnt tap into it with your new gauge.
If there is a plug in the front of the intake manifold on the passenger side you could probably install your new sender there.

Thank you very much. I had posted my question on friday and couldn't check for replies until today (monday) but after researching the problem I decided to do exactly what you had recommended.
Your right on and I thank you again
