PM access with my account
All new accounts, or accounts with low activity, don't have immediate access to the PM system. This is a common measure to help protect the community from Spammers and Scammers.

The access is automatically given when your account meets the criteria. Our suggestion is to simply use the site for its intended purpose and you will quickly gain the additional access.

How many posts are required and how long is the length of time one must be a member before they are granted PM aceess and capability, please?
In the "Welcome to FTE" notice it states a minimum of 5 posts and 10 days of membership "...To access certain features of this site, such as Private Messages, Signatures, our Classifieds section..." I've now been a member more than 30 days and my post total sits currenty at 29, yet I still seem unable to access the private message system when I click on the envelope icon next to a member's profile name.

So purely out of curiosity, what exactly determines if one qualifies as an "active account" then? I log in here on a weekly basis to red and search posts, and ocasionally start a thread or comment as well.
And yet I still have no PM capabilities when I click on the envelope icon next to a member's account name when I wish to access that system.
I can read messages I receive and reply to them just fine, I simply have no access to initiate them.
What gives??
