It is easy and fast. I can do it with one hand. I don't have the key on the key chain, I just set it by the fuel card in the console.

Takes less than 30 seconds one handed to remove.

I like my really BEM caps, zero complaints. I helped BEM with the initial prototype with measurements on the filler spout on my 2021 MY.
Here is the prototype they sent me and of course the finished products I now use. I added industrial Velcro to the diesel cap and just stick it on the fuel door when filing up. Prevents me from possibly leaving it on top of the pump after fueling up. A cheap $1 mod which works great.
So far I have not seen anything else on the market that is a nicer quality than this set. The people at BEM were super nice to work with and having input on the final fitment on my truck was pretty cool. FWIW..

I have yet to read where any BEM caps have been defeated. Not saying it can’t be done…just lots of theories and no evidence.
Any volunteers? 😂

BEM prototype

Finished product.

I bought my set in April of this year and I am completely satisfied with my BEM set.

Nicole at BEM was very helpful with me in figuring out whether the fuel cap would work with my truck.

To be honest, she shipped the set to me without charging me because she wanted to be sure it worked with my truck first.

I did a lot of research myself on this but she was there with me and helping me out. I could not be more satisfied with her for customer service.

If my family ever gets a new Super Duty, I am no doubt buying a set for it.

Just recently started doing this when I fill up.

The key kind of sticks in there pretty good. As to loosening it, I find that just at least 3 full turns of the key, and it comes off. You can keep turning as the screw is longer and will continue to, but there's no need to. I keep the key in one of cup holders. Its difficult to turn when its on a set of keys.

I bought these after finding out this past winter that the Tank Warden set from Subtle Designs I bought, the fancy casino locks/keys they use do not like cold damp weather. Moisture gets inside the fuel/DEF caps behind the door and the key freezes solid.

If you live down south, I'd doubt you would have a problem but there was that deep freeze in Texas not long ago.

Here's some pics I took on a beautiful sunny day in April in Western New York.

The bolt is down all the way and cap is locked on.
The bolt is down all the way and cap is locked on.
Same for DEF cap.
Same for DEF cap.

I know that I will be set this year when the snow starts flying.

I bought a set last year, however, I just ended up keeping the DEF cap and returned the diesel cap. Nicole was very nice and helpful in this process, and I appreciated that they let me return just the diesel cap and keep the DEF cap. While the BEM cap is very nice, I preferred the Stant locking cap that I had been using for a couple of reasons:

* I liked having separate keys for the diesel and DEF cap. This way I have to be more intentional about which cap I am removing for whatever purpose.
* I didn't like spinning the key round and round so much, both to take it off and to put it back on! It's fine with the DEF cap since it's infrequently used.
* Cost. The Stant cap filled my need for this purpose, which was also much less expensive...

My main purpose for these caps are just to keep someone from ***** nilly deciding to add something to the tank. All of these caps can be defeated, but the simple lock is what keeps an honest person honest. If someone wants in, they will get in regardless of which cap is on... and if they want the fuel, they will just puncture the plastic tank underneath. (And I know some will think it, but I am not trying to poop on BEM, the caps are nice, the service was great and I applaud them for being a small, US based business, but for me, there are other good solutions, or better in my case, that also costs less.)

The Stant locking diesel cap and the BEM locking DEF cap!
The Stant locking diesel cap and the BEM locking DEF cap! Locked and ready to go!

Different keys for different caps! I keep them on a separating key chain and only grab the key I need. This helps prevents me (or someone else) from making a mistake...

No worries Chad...

IMO, I found it difficult to turn the key on a keyring but since you just have it for the DEF, you won't need to use it as often as fuel. I fill my DEF up with bottles so no need to worry for me because I don't buy at the pump.

But do yourself a favor, get on YouTube and see how easy it is without much effort at all it is to defeat that Stant locked fuel cap.

For the most part, I fill my DEF with the jugs too... sometimes when traveling with the camper I may fill up at the pumps because it's much less expensive to do that than to go in and buy it in the jug. I looked at Loves the other day and it was over $20 for the Loves brand, and the Blue brand was over $30! So I topped off with the pump and bought jugs later when I had a chance to stop by Walmart.

And yeah, it's been a while, but I figure I have watched those video's before. And I imagine being plastic, it is easier to bust into it than the BEM, but I won't fool myself into thinking that the BEM wouldn't be hard either, assuming someone walked up with intentions and a few items on hand to do the job. It's the unprepared, off the cuff decisions that I am most worried about, and what I would anticipate the most. Saying that though, don't talk me into buying the BEM cap again! lol... Being in CA for a while does make me more nervous about these things than before when I resided in MS and FL!

I don't force anyone into anything... including K100 even though I'm an unofficial spokesman....

I took pics with different sizes of needlenose pliers in trying to turn that bolt. They will not fit in the bolt hole on top, including a very small pair I have.

Am I saying they are criminal proof? Absolutely not but they are more secure than those Tank Warden locking caps I had which are more secure than that Stant kit. But it sure would take more work to remove those Tank Warden caps than the Stant locking cap. And even more work to remove the BEM cap.

You have to do you Chad... I'm just pointing out the obvious... I tend to be a Captain Obvious at times.

Depending on the diameter of the hole in the locking screw, it could easily be defeated in seconds with a screw extractor.

Well well well... can't say I'm surprised since the Hyundai/Kia vehicles are stolen simply using a USB A charge cable male end once the key cylinder is pried off. If enough thought and thinking outside the box is put into defeating a anti-theft device, yes it's doable. I cannot say I am surprised by this or the fact it was you that figured it out.

I thought you said yours didn't work properly and didn't lock?
