I have a '74 highboy with superduty front springs and battleborn brakes mount kit. I am trying to decide what to do for front and rear bumpers, as I am finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this project. Will a factory front bumper still mount to this truck? Should I build my own? Looking for ideas. Thanks.
Did the BattleBorn front frame cross member to adapt the SD leaf's go on just like the OEM one? You are you crafty you can build one? Or order one from this FTE member. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/member.php?u=586926 he builds them in his shop and makes then much more heavy duty.
Old "Gunny" who used to run the range at VMI had a dark green Dent side, had 5 or 6 inch steel well casing welded to brackets and bolted on both ends of his truck frame as bumpers, had caps on well casing ends. I don't think he had air fittings on them, though he talked about it.
Way back when, a company called Rickard Engineering made some super sweet looking (And very stout and very expensive) storage bumpers for our trucks.
A friend of a friend had them on his amazing 79 F350.
Wish I could find some pictures of them somewhere. I keep looking but no luck so far.
