I have a 04 f150 5.4 triton.i was driving home from work today and my truck started to spudder and the check engine started flashing.i made it off the road but the battery light came on and truck died .i tried to start it and it won't even click.any suggestions on what this issue would be.thanks in advanced...I'm stumped.
Have you tried jumping the battery? Sounds to me like your may have had an alternator failure.
Yes I've tried jumping it.that didn't work.i did hear a click sound today when I turned the key over but it still won't crank.i put a ob on it and it said miss fire cylinder 3and 4.i replaced the alternator back in August and it has a new battery also.battery was charged at 12.1 when I tested it today..
Be very careful that the engine is not hydro locked. Fuel or any fluid can't be compressed .Pull all spark plugs and look for fuel flooding . With them out try turning it over . If injector fails or coolant fills cly you can get major bending problems .
You can try to turn engine over by hand with plugs out to see if it is possible to turn .Starter fail is not on the list because it shutdown in flight, sounds like it is mechanical failure . Could be valve to piston contact plus a few other things .
It could be a 12vdc problem but it wouldn't jump, if you gave it enough time to charge and you had good large leads . .
