By the description of those two wires, they must be coming from the truck wiring harness and not the radio. The only striped wires coming from any aftermarket stereo are speaker wires and the occasional second remote wire.

If it is a wire that was going into your radio, it should have nothing to do with it. Your radio (old or new) only puts out a current on the blue wires (for a power antenna or amplifier). You would not connect those to anything else. My point is that I don't think it would have anything to do with those two wires. It is probably just a fuse (fuse 4). Did you check the bulbs? If you are not satisfied, and you still have the original wiring harness that was attached to the truck, go out and buy the female end for that at any stereo shop or wal-mart. Reconnect the harness to the truck and the new harness to the radio. Connect the radio to the truck like that. Once connected, there should be NO extra wires.

That is always the best way to do it because it is virtually idiot proof. Inexperienced installers should not try to do this themselves because they can really damage things. These wiring harnesses make it much easier.

If you have any screens, dvd players, gaming systems or the like, disregard all above. Those get wacko. If you do, let me know and I will look up the wiring diagrams and see what I can find out.

BTW, I could not find those two wires in the wiring diagrams in chiltons.

I hope I helped, if not, let me know, I will give you a cell number and you can talk to me about what you see. If I can get a visual, I can prob tell you exactly what is wrong with it. Okay...well POSSIBLY..(I hate to fail. it is much easier just to set lower goals for myself)

The LB/R wire is the dash illumination (dimmed) circuit, which is what fed the radio illumination. I forget what the orange one is. If you had shorted the LB/R, it would have blown the courtesy lights fuse, and probably the parking lights fuse, too.

Glad you already found it.
