2000 Expedition
Looking at buying a very clean 2000 Ford Expedition, Eddie Bauer trim. 94,000mi. The guy is asking $7900 for it. It’s been serviced and belonged to an older gentleman before the current owner. He let me test drive it and it runs good and shifts flawlessly. I’m a little concerned about the price being fair. KBB lists at like $5300 tops and it is a 22 year old vehicle and most every bushing I could see underneath it is dry rotting. The steering wheel has about 1” slop in it moving back and forth before I feel any tension on the wheels, is this normal? It will also need new tires within the first year. Very little rust underneath and no oil leaks anywhere and the greasable fittings it does have look like they haven’t been touched in awhil but no rubber is broken though some is very stiff and rotting.
I’d like some opinions. I’d like to offer him $5,000 cause I don’t think it’s worth $7900 but I also don’t want to insult the guy as he has been very good to talk to so far.
Im located in Virginia
Thanks,
Reed
Even without me seeing it, the Expo you're looking at is WAY overpriced. I wouldn't look at it unless the selling price was near $4k and the car be near perfect. It is what it is, and for the price he's asking, even with the sub 100k miles, $7900 is nuts.
If you do choose to take a closer look, take a code reader and plug it in to check for codes.
Good Luck and I hope you make a good decision because $7900 is a lot of $$$
