ok guys no laughing now! I just bought a 1977 Supercab with all emblems removed. it is two wheel drive,400 eng.How do I tell if it is a 150,250 or 350? Is there an id plate somewhere?
well a F150 will have 5 lug nuts per wheel, The F250 and 350 will have 8 lug nuts per wheel. If its a Single rear wheel then I would have to say its a F250 in stead of a F350 (Thats if it has 8 lUgs) There was a SRW F350 but the Wheel base was longer Setting the rear wheels closer to the tailgate. Also on the Vin Number it will say F1 F2 F3 so on (Im pretty sure thats right)
I have a 77 F350 Supercab "SWB" w/ 6'-0" Styleside Bed, dual tanks & single wheels all around.
It has same type 8 lug wheels as F250, but takes 9.50 X 16.5 tires instead of 9.00 X16.5. It also has 8 1/4" X 1/4" frame instead of 6 1/2 " X 3/16 like F250s do. Plus it has 1 ton rated springs, and the huge front discs w/ double piston calipers, like most F350s. F250 usually has single piston calipers.
It is 8" longer than LWB Standard Cab & 2 1/2 ft. shorter than a Supercab w/ 8'-0" bed. It has a drop down rear bench seat, that makes a cargo area, similar to a sta wagon, instead of two jump seats [like NY Taxi] & "tip out 1/4 vent windows".
It's 1 of several bought for a produce farm/ ranch in Nogales AZ.
Only others I've ever seen were there, all were same 460, C6 2wd XLT Ranger Pkg w/ A/C nice trucks, but wierd/ rare combo!
