New guy here. I plan to order a 23’ F250 extended cab, 4x4, 7.3l tomorrow. I’ve had many Ford trucks over the years going back to 1978 and tyy he ey all came with some type of wheel well plastic guard. On the new trucks it’s an option for both front and rear . Never thought about it before but is you live in an area that salts the heck out of the roads would it be better to have the inner protection - or not and have it easier to hose everything off?
I don't live an area with salt or even wet roads too often. But ordered them on my 2022 and now the 2023 fronts on the ordered dually. Besides the protection and ease of cleaning they just present a more finished look. Ridiculous they are an option, but I wish under hood insulation would be an option as well.
get fluidfilm or something like that applied regularly and you are set.
I have nearly the same order in for a 2022. It has been over 13 months and still not shipped. I hope your fate for this type of truck is better than my mine was.
I added the rear wheel well liners to mine and like them. They are easy to clean, and I think it looks better than not having it... But, I would not add it to your order. This is a very easy item to add yourself, and I would suggest to do just that. In fact, anything like tonneau covers, wheel well liners, window visors, bed liners... any of that stuff that you can add aftermarket, I would suggest to add it after you get your truck... and for a couple of reasons.
1. The biggest reason not to add these things to your order is because these things can actually hold up your order if (when) a commodity hold comes up. If you want your truck to get built, not adding on items like this can be the difference in getting your truck built, or not.
2. If you buy these items aftermarket the total finance cost of the truck will be less.
3. Often times you can find these items for less expensive than what Ford will charge you.
4. There are typically more options to choose from aftermarket.
5. It's not hard to combine 3 and 4... you find something you like more, and less expensive.
6. And if you are dead-set on the OEM item, then use the FordPass points you get for buying a new vehicle to help pay for those parts.

Oh, man don’t tell me that. Anyone else experiencing long wait times on ordered trucks. My dealer tells me 60-90 days … and we all know they never lie..

Absolutely! There are many folks that have been waiting longer than 12 months for their trucks.
I would be an absolute miracle if you truck gets built in 60-90 days! I personally wouldn't even expect it to get scheduled for production in 60-90 days.
I'm thinking it'll be at least 6 months before you'll see your truck.

lol, I picked mine up just under 8 months from order… and I’m lucky.
In part due to the feedback I received here I woke up this morning and changed plans. Instead of ordering a new 23 I bought a used (with 4275 miles on it) 22’ Lariat, 7.3l, 4wd extended cab. Had been working with the dealer for a week on price. It was a bit more than what I would have ordered but this thing has about every option available on it.
Thing I’ve run into is the original window sticker shows a 4.30 electronic lock rear while the dealers used car sticker lists a 3.73… I suspect the original sticker is correct with the 4.30. At 55 in 10th I was around 1600rpms?
Lots of Gadgets to figure out in the coming days / weeks (I’ve been driving my 94’ f150 for the past 29 years).
I see that you went ahead and bought a used truck... but I want to add to this thread that getting your truck is hit or miss... some will definitely get their truck in a 60-90 day window, but many won't. There is absolutely no guarantee or method to figure out just how long it will take. For me, from the date of order til I brought it home was exactly 4 months, but to be fair, I ordered my truck 2 months before the 22MY's even went into production, so if you take that into consideration, I got my truck in 2 months, or 60 days... and some got them even faster... but then there are those that are still waiting well over a year later!
Anyway, congrats on your new truck and enjoy it! In my opinion, I think you did better with the 22 than the 23!
I don’t see a ratio on the door tag. It Shows 4M by axle? Is this a code for the ratio? It’s been raining since I got home last night so haven’t been under the truck yet.

4M would confirm the 4.30 ratio, like the window sticker said.

Yes, very random in my opinion. Doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason. Ordered a 2022 F 350 SRW on 10/27/21. It was home in my driveway on 12/21/21. I consider myself among the luckiest of the lucky for that order.
