The lunchbox lockers are very rough and noisy. They'll sound like something is breaking, and they will shake the truck when they bind and release. This is all normal behavior.
That being said, I would've never put one in the front axle. Lock the rear and keep the front open. (Or a limited slip If it's absolutely necessary).
I tried just the drivers hub and everything seems ok like when only the passenger hub. Just wet pavement today but I drove around the block with both hubs and it's the quietest it's ever been with the locker but I get both soft clicking and loud banging still. Turning radius is absolutely garbage.

I'll keep an eye out for a LSD.
That sounds like normal operation of said locker. I've had multiple vehicles with them, and they're not for the faint of heart. Road manners are harsh.

Can you get a spool for these frontends? I often wondered how that would work out. Of course it would be off road only, I see you are trying to drive yours on the street, and that locker must really work. A spool of course would definitely be locked also. With a spool on the street you could unlock one or both hubs like you are doing now, and when off road lock both hubs in. I bet a spool would be quiet and give you the same road manners you have now.
I had a factory front limited slip in my 1980. I took it apart for other reasons and found the front pumpkin to be bone dry with surface rust inside. I was putting a new pass side axle in it, and after I did that I put it back together and poured some gear oil in it. It had some strange behaviors in snow also, but it had good manners on the road.

I don't normally use 4x4. I've been using it on the wet roads lately more for testing. It's snowed in the area a few times lately and I have needed it. That and my muddy side yard.

4x4 is awfully handy to have. But you will find on the pavement, even one without a locker, it's going to fight you in hard turns. I am sure you have had the steering wheel rocking back and forth as you are trying to turn. Don't fight it too much, or something can break in the frontend.
I did the exact same thing with ol'blue a 1985 F250HD 4x4. I used a spartan lunchbox locker bought it as a c clip type. Had the local shop do the d50 passenger side and drill a drain plug on the boss at the bottom.
it was fine for about 10 miles then it would make a slam sound and ol'blue would jerk like a bull out of a shoot.
i pulled the hubs and the drivers side i adjusted the engagement gear a bit more into the hub.
The passenger side i discovediscovet the spring was put in on the wrong side of the engagement gear. So i put the spring on the correct side of the gear and adjusted the dept of the engagement between the hub and the splines of the axle shaft. All the issues disappeared.
if i where you i would start with the hub to axle spline depth adjustment.
Cheers and good luck.

I didn't know you could adjust the depth. I guess I'll look at the directions for the Mile Marker hubs.
The light colored plastic piece right side The plastic piece upper
The lighter piece has a spiral thread id that when the dial is turned the interior black piece of plastic is threaded into the od pushes in and engages the axle to the wheel.
i made my adjustment with how deep the inter black piece was before i put it back together. Mind you i am referring to the stock hubs and not mile marker.
if i remember correctly there's shy of a inch of adjustment. I could be wrong. Maybe i put mine together wrong if i did i would be shock it's ran so long trouble free.
Hope this is of some help.
The two pictures are not mine i hijacked them from another post on FTE.
If the hub is not pushing the toothed dog all the way in and the dog is skipping on the teeth causing all this jumping, you would think you would see damage to the teeth on the dog. It's nothing but pot metal.

.
No, I own and have installed several lunchbox lockers that isn't normal behavior at all. They can make some clicking noises when turning, and slightly more clunking when on and off of the gas due to the extra slack in the drivetrain but it shouldn't shake the whole truck and sound like something is breaking.
