I just bought 3 (1) gallon cans of Chevron Delo400 30 SAE 30. I have been using 15W40 but some of the fellers on this site said they have had better luck and less oil consumption when running 30 weight oil, I also bought a filter for a 95 PSD, since you guys said that is the way to get a little more oil capacity. Let me know if I got the wrong filter. Also if you have ran this set up of oil let me know, I am kind of skittish on changing but the oil is rated for the big trucks so it shouldn't hurt my truck and if I remember correctly my father used to run 30 weight in all of his big equipment and he bought it in 55 gallon drums, and after awhile he started running it in his 86 F250 6.9L. He got about 350,000 out of his first engine so I think this may work. Any concerns please let me know, I am going to call my dad and ask him just to double check. Thanks for the help. Scotty
I went to Delo 400 30 on my last change and everything is A-OK. I think the consumption is down from last time with 15-40. The P/Stroke filter is a good idea, but most places are a little too proud of them for my taste. I just got the regular one this time.
I agree, the damn filter costs about 20.00 some dollars, but if it a better filter I can bite the bullet. I hope the 30w helps out with oil consumption.. That would be an excellent added benefit. Scotty
I run the Motorcraft power stroke filter on my 7.3. I think the part number is like 1995. Now at the local parts store the motorcraft is 12.97 witch is not bad in my mind.
