So… posts like this make me want to rethink my decision to go from the stock 33” tires to 35’s when it comes time to replace them on my 6.7 with 3.31’s…

Rethinking is a good thing, or you can turn off your brain and follow the unknowing.

If your truck came with 20s like mine, I'd assume they are 275/65R20s... those are 34 inch tall tires. For winter, I run a factory set of 18 inch steel wheels with snow tires in the size 275/70R18s I believe, I'll have to double check that. It's the same size as the factory 18 inch spare.

Here's a great site I've used before...

Another great website are these guys.

Where did you find factory 18" steel wheels? I've only ever seen 17s.

I feel like tire width/weight is a bigger factor than anything. I'm running 295/70R17s right now, they are 33.5s but closer to 33s. Definitely worse mileage-wise than the factory 34" Michelins.

Got the set from my buddy who owns the shop where I take my vehicles.

This is what they are:

I have never seen one, interesting. I may have to find a set of those when my Duratracs wear out. That would make keeping with a 34" tire much easier.

They are indeed 275/70R18s.

At one point, I want to have them powder coated black or a dark gray silver... A local shop did my son's factory Fusion wheels in black. They came out great. The guy said semi gloss is the most durable.

I rattle-canned my 17s. They're just winter wheels, so I figured screw it. Powdercoat would be nice tho.

Yeah my buddy had his winter wheel set done by the same shop for his GMC 2500 Duramax... wish I'd thought of it before I got the new tires mounted and balanced... by him... or if he would have thought to tell me... oh well...

Rattle can it will be... though didn't get it done again this year.

When they're constantly covered by salt and sand... I'm not gonna throw too much money at them, lol

No I get it... I never would have though of powder coating them if it wasn't for my friend bringing it up... who knows? I got more worthwhile stuff to spent my money on than that. Where I live, they use sand and salt too. But not where I work, just salt.

Nice rig. That a Boss V?

Fisher 9' 6' "Extreme V" Technically too big for the truck, lol, but man does it work well. I'll never go back to a straight blade.

Not a fan.. weigh more, more wear and tear on truck and more complex with more stuff to break...

I'm not saying they are not useful but I would never own one. Different story if you plow commercially. I feel that I could put a set of wings on my straight blade and do what a Vee blade would... like I've said before, opinions are just like certain bodily orifices. We all got 'em. But they sure do transport nicer than a big old straight blade, that I agree on. My blade overheats my truck some no matter where I try to place it...

I only bought my Meyer 8' Lot Pro to plow my driveway... and so far, the two winters I've been plowing in, the city has gotten crushed way more than us out in "ski country." Rather amusing to me, actually. But, just depends on the direction of the wind over Lake Erie and where the snow bands go.

I got a great deal on my plow. $4200 installed but with tax, almost $4600. A local truck equipment company had them priced to sell and I think I know why, but that's another story.

My 96 had an 8' Meyer Husky straight blade that I used for commercial plowing. I wanted to have a set of wings fabbed up but never did. I didn't like the cheap wing set that you had to drill a hole in the mold board to mount. The best thing I did was buy a polyurethane cutting edge. Quiet and less tripping of the plow. Once the ground froze, no peeling back the turf.

In the Buffalo storms, I had three big lots to do, by myself. I would drop the plow some, angle it and make cuts until there was enough to start pushing it into the clean areas. then I would shoot to the next lot... I've plowed enough and spent more time on the bench seat in my 96, during lake effect snow, to not want to do it again as side job...

Mine are 18’s. I didn’t want 20’s, which was another reason an XLT was my choice. The GY Wranglers (275 70/18) are 33.2”. I am planning to go to the GY Duratracs (285 75/18) when these wear out… they are about half an inch wider but an inch and a half taller. About 30 revolutions less…

I wonder, when they say 3.31 rear end, what size tires are those based on? I know the AS tires are smaller than the AT tires. They are 32” tall… so I wonder what the ratio actually is with a 3.31 rear end and 35” tires.
