Just thought I'd drop in and introduce myself. I currently live in a very large snow storm, I know that doesn't narrow it down much. :-)
Down to business: I have at my disposal three vehicles, a 78 F350 2WD 300 Six, a 1980 F350 4WD Dually 460 and a boat. The 79 has a rust free cab, the 80 is a good chassis and the boat has a 300 six 2 bbl. Both trucks are 4 speed manual trans. My thoughts are to pull the boat motor for the 4WD chassis. pull the cab and mount the rust free cab from the 78. Any thoughts?
I'm curious if you are going to use the resulting pickup to tow the boat far, or do any other towing.
It could also be fun to tow the 300-6 boat to the lake/stream/river/ocean/etc. with a 300-6 truck!
Welcome aboard!
I'm looking for an end result of a one ton four wheel drive flatbed with a goose neck hitch. Using the 300 2bbl engine from the boat to power the truck. I haven't done any research on the boat engine, like, does it rotate the right direction? Some marine applications don't. It all depends on the condition of the other 300 in the 79. If I can use it that may be the best result. The boat engine is tempting.
Right now I'm packing the camper for a trip to Texas. The trucks will have to wait until spring most likely. I just have too many projects going.
