Just replaced my transmission lines, and the upper line fitting (the one halfway back on the transmission) continues to weep through the threads and leave a drip. I feel like I've tightened it as far as I feel comfortable just with my 16mm tubing wrench - how hard should I reef on this? Not cross threaded or crooked and the rear one seemed to seal much better with what I feel is a reasonable torque (by my forearm torque-wrench specs). Feels tight when I put the wrench on it - like I will break something if I go harder on it.
This is a poor pic of the feed bolt that holds the cooler bypass on, and where the cooler line attaches.
You can kinda see there is an o-ring in the bottom, It could be that is causing your leak. One would think the flare would do the sealing but ford put an o-ring in there so...
I don't know what the o-ring specs are, but I think the bolt may be available separately. I know a new cooler bypass comes with new bolts.
What is the part number for the bypass tube assembly? I don't trust the listings on ebay and my standard rockauto search is coming up empty. Just want to replace the entire bypass tube, fittings and all. I'm convinced I have it tight enough, must be a ragged seal.
