Smog Pump to Cat hookup help

I've got an 84 with a 300. I'm trying to hook up my air pump to my cat. Is there just a line that goes from the pump to the cat or is there more?

Thanks

Well, I can at least tell you the setup on my 84 with a 351, so it is most likely a little diffrent. On mine, a thick rubber hose comes off the pump into a "T" configuration. One part of the "T" goes to a steel air pipe that bolts to the back of each head. The other part of the "T" has the steel pipe clamped to it that runs down to the cat. The "T" itself has what may be a solenoid-type valve on it. This gets hooked up, I think, to a vaccuum source (that's at least what I did with mine when I replaced the engine). So to answer your question, you may need to find out if the 300 had a "blowhole" in the back of the head like a 351. If it doesn't, I don't see why plumbing the pump right up to the cat won't work. Is this to pass emissions or just to "show" that your pollution control junk is in place?

looking at my 85, there looks like there is a hose going to a valve by the pump, and then into the pump somehow

I just put a cat on this truck, it hasn't had one for years, and I am wanting to get the air supply hooked up to it. It doesn't have to pass an e-check. I just got tired of the exhaust stinking.

No e-check? Take all that crap out of there and tune it up, that will get rid of the exhaust smell.

My 2 cents worth!
