96 Ranger Trans/clutch problem
I've got a 96 Ranger 4 cyl. with a man. transmission. I put it in the shop in August to have the clutch replaced(The clutch pedal would go all the way to the floor before engaging). They claim they replaced the clutch disc, master cylinder, slave cylinder, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and resurfaced the flywheel. Everything was fine until Monday when I could not get the truck in gear. It wouldn't go into any gear. There was no grinding, it was just like the clutch wasn't engaging. I took it back to the shop on Monday, and they claim my syncronizing plates in the transmission are wearing out. This truck has 79,000 miles on it and has never been driven roughly. And to top it off, The clutch pedal is now acting just the way it was back in August.
Anyone have any ideas as to what they could of screwed up when replacing my clutch to begin with? The shop claims the clutch is fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

I would try another shop. A worn clutch will not grab until the pedal is all of the way up.
It sounds like you either have a bad master cylinder or slave cylinder. If these are bad, it will not press the pressure plate to release the clutch disc.
Check the fluid in the clutch master cylinder and try bleeding the system to see if it has air in it.
