Recently renovated this 97 XLT with 3.0l from a cornfield. Prior owner has issues with overheating.. Well, the big hole in the radiator tank was a no brainer. Repleced it, the cap, t-stat and flused the system. What a mess. There was more then vandalism done to this truck. How about a pound or two of Potting soil was dumped into the hole on the radiator.. Had to fully flush the system--which then broke the T-stat. So, I removed it. Replaced the fluids.. Specs call for 14.8 qrts. That's wrong. So far, I've added over 16.5 qrts.. This vehicle has a transmission cooler on it.. Now, it just bubbles and grumbles and then blows the rradiator cap releif open.. I've had it up on ramps.Revved at intervals of 3500 rpms and still it has air.. So, I added a flush kit to the return hose of the heater core.. Still no heat, and the hoses are just warm. Temp gauge shows normal. No water in oil or trans. Just changed the oil and fliter today. No oil in Coolant system. Prior owner says the water pump was new in 2020 as well as the Serpentine Belt. Any clue as to what I'm missing --other then to have the system vaccumed ?

Have you considered that a small head gasket leak could be pressurizing the cooling system and forcing air into the coolant? There is a test to check for exhaust gas present in the cooling system.
just because po said a 'new' water pump was installed does NOT mean it is actually working. Its not an expensive item so I would recommend replacement with a good one from a dealer not ebay or whatever. Some motorcycles have the same problem and the 6.0 pickups also have wp issues so that is where Id begin. Also I had a 351 which would get hot and it turned out to be weak injectors causing it to run lean then hot. you didnt say how many miles on the engine and what you have done to the fuel system. so these are 2 places to consider.

I will now... Thanks... Yet, there is no fluid loss or white steam...
less then 100k miles I found the purchase reciepts , rebuilt Engine, belts and AC compressor . The question still remains unanswered.... How much fluid does the cooling system hold...14.8 qaurts is not true... I've already added 16 because FORD does not specify how much fluid is in the trans oil coollnat lines. The upper and lower radiator hoses alone hold 3 gallons . The heater core --at least 2 quarts. and the other hoses.. I changed the oiland filter yesterday. .No water discovered.. No water in the Trans Fluid either.. The heater hoses were warm. I removed the new water heatervalve .It was found stuck closed. I replaced it with a stright peive of copper pipe. So, I have the truck up on ramps and will run it again today
