truck is a 2019 f-150 Limited with a raptor V-6.
How can I disable the start/stop feature ? I see there is a Start /Stop eliminator that plugs in and it remembers on or off. But it is 99 dollars... Should be a better alternative
Also, another is to unplug it from under the dash... but that disables the wiring to towing plug ( boat trailer in my case)
So,,, what are my options ?? Thanks Dan
I like my start/stop eliminator. Why I like it is, once a month I turn it back on, and ensure that the battery seems to be maintaining. It will not work if the battery is not charging well, and it seems to be a great tell sign. I agree, I started by unplugging under dash, then the little plug was going to cause me lots of grief should it break (I trailer at times too).
I have been told that plugging something into the trailer plug that draws a little current - i.e.. fools the truck into thinking there's a trailer attached - will disable the start/stop.
Don't know if it'll work on a '19, but on my '15 the A.S,S. system was disabled by unplugging the current sensor at the battery. No issues that I can tell, and no lights on on the dash. I believe the battery is charged to a higher state of charge, since it's charging based on voltage not current draw.
Don't disconnect the Sensor at the battery.
You lose a lot more overall engine performance and battery life control than most know about.
Best is to inhibit A.S.S.in program.
This does not take out all Battery and other control.
Or...push the button on the dash each time you start it. Pretty simple and doesn't affect anything else. And costs $0.
Is it annoying that it won't stay turned off? Yep. But my wife's '19 also won't stay in tow/haul when the trailer is hooked up and you shut it off/start it again.
I have heard (but unable to verify) that if you plug in a one watt night light in to one of the 110 volt outlet it doesn't come on either. Of course you have to remember to turn it off at the end of the day.
It was really annoying at 1st, but then just became routine to hit the button right after we start the truck. Funny thing is when I get in the other car we have that has push-to-start, I catch myself reaching for that auto start/stop button (it doesn't have that "feature")...
I like the trick of if the inverter is in use it won't do auto stop, but this is the first I've heard of it... May have to give that a try...
Forscan option disables Battery Monitoring System but sure fire way to disable A.S.S without additional hardware. I been tinkering with FORScan for diff things but don't mind the A.S.S feature
I looked into the eliminator plug as well but at $99 I can press the 'Off' button much cheaper. I just make it a part of my startup procedure as someone else suggested.
My wife just pushes the off button as part of her start up routine and it's become second nature. I always forget because I don't drive the truck much and get startled when it dies at the first stoplight lol.
