Coolant mistake?

This is the coolant i just added. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/c...specific&pos=2

I read their compatibility chart and it listed my year 7.3 and came up as a vehicle-specific acceptable coolant. After doing some reading it seems that it may be a mistake running OAT formulated coolant in a 96. Is this something that should be flushed and refilled with green stuff and SCA? I thought I was doing a good thing going with a ELC style coolant now it seems I may have made a mistake. I already read and printed out the gooch coolant flush procedure.

All I know is the early injector cup sealant does not jive with the ELC coolants. Unsure on the OATs of which you speak.

My 7.3 runs that purple stuff from Tractor Supply as recommended by many here. It is 'Fleetcharge' and has its first dose of SCAs premixed. I need to check the levels and such, but no clue how or if I should just drain and fill.

You can read for hours on coolants on Bobistheoilguy.com

Yeah I'm flushing and refilling with green stuff and ford SCA. Parts store was out of the VC-8 so I will be doing it Friday when the stuff comes in. From what I read its the OAT (organic acid technology) that the cup sealant does not like.

I had to deal with all that OAT stuff on my '96 Fleetwood Brougham. It is a late '95 build and GM began to change to Dexcool then, mine had it so I flushed the hell out of it with distilled (PO neglect) and refilled with fresh. No issues now with basic maintenance...aside from installing a fresh heater core due to stone age coolant that plugged it.

Just keep it maintained and motor on is the key.

I actually just flushed and refilled. Kinda used the gooch method. VC8 wont be here until tomorrow so Ill add that when I get it. Took her out and really drove her hard for the first time. Long enough to get the thermostat to open and stuff moving. Im ordering a glovebox CPS from riff raff so I'm just going to add some test strips.
