I have a 1989 f250 4wd with the 351 w. I’m just wondering if someone could help me with a parts list that is required for an alignment that I can replace I know my bushings are bad. Any and all advice/websites to visit with more info is greatly appreciated.
There is no specific parts list “required for an alignment.” You can take the truck in to get an alignment anytime. The shop should check for worn components and tell you why the alignment cannot to be done until those items are repaired.
You know the leaf spring and axle pivot bushings are bad? Order and replace them. Check the steering system linkage for wear as well as the ball joints. is there a lot of play in the steering wheel before the wheels turn? You could try adjusting the steering gear or it will need to be replaced. How about the intermediate shaft between the column and steering gear? Is that tight or are those joints sloppy? Make sure the wheel bearings are not loose. If it has been a while -remove, inspect and repack them with fresh grease.
As you can tell, some vehicles can go right in for an alignment while others will need some parts replaced.
with it unlocked, not running, have someone wiggle the steering wheel stop to stop with no little force. while you are under truck watching the steering joints. if you know the rods are moving with slop before they push the ball and move the piece the are connected to, replace them. any of the pivoting hangers that wiggle (may be 1 or 2 ) also replace.
or just look so you have an idea what your bill should be if you hire it done.
