Shame on LMC!!

So today I got LMC's black friday sales email. I checked. Yes, sure as can be, the discount is showing. That is just the incentive I needed to place the order.
Now, if they could work on their shipping costs. I swear I could drive to Ohio and back for what they charge for freight. Maybe not, ha ha. But their delivery costs continually make me search ebay and amazon for free shipping options.

I got the email too.
I'd swear the price on intermittent wiper module and switch cost more than they did just a while back.
I'll pass on buying it there today.

That's 10% off a price that has risen 20% in the last few days. Figures don't lie but liars do figure. They also get help from people who call themselves "word smiths" or "marketing mavens." There is an art to dissembling with plausible deniability and these folks are veritable artistes. I call them the dis-informers.

When did they move to Ohio?
LMC Ford Truck parts physical address, like walk in and buy over the counter.
17301 W. 113th Street
Lenexa, KS 66219

A guy we all know on here said a few words about "parts".

“The bitterness of poor quality lingers long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”

"Quality of parts are like oats. There are new oats and used oats. New oats can be bought at feed stores, used oats can be found out on the road, after the horse passes by."

All I am saying is I agree 100%.

I stay away from LMC. I learned a few years ago about their snail like shipping and poor quality. Never again. I'll buy used before I go back to LMC.

Honestly, I don’t buy much from LMC, but have never really been disappointed with what I’ve gotten. I usually get small parts and fastener packs from them with the occasional larger item. They do have pretty big oversize shipping charges so I stay away from things that are larger. They’ve always worked with me if parts were not what I expected. I think they are great, as long as you understand their place in repop land. The diagrams on their website are extremely helpful to me when shopping parts and for that, I always try to give them some of my business.

as for shipping cost, it kinda is what it is. Recently was looking at parts comparing the bigger places; jbg, npd, Lmc and dc. Shipping was pretty much a wash across the board, again not for any oversize items. They did have a note on Lmc when I was looking that their handling times would be longer, but I didn’t notice much of a lag.

maybe I’ve just gotten lucky with them. 🤷‍♂️

It is really difficult to know whose product you are actually getting. Very little is made in house and much is outsourced to firms that deal in overseas manufactured stuff that varies greatly in quality and availability. There are many claims and caveats but little confirmation or proof. The big name vendors are often just intermediaries. The same part may be available from all of them because they use the same source. We have truth in lending laws so perhaps it's time for truth in manufacturing laws.
Dynacorn, Revology and Brookville Roadster are interesting case studies. How do they do it? How can we learn from them?

Large stuff, I'll drive up to Auto Krafters, maybe grab something small while there.

Small stuff, I'll shop around for, even LMC. No problems yet.

My two biggest gripes are their proprietary part numbers which make it hard to cross-reference, and their return policy. NPD at least shows who manufactures the part, and their part number, so you can somewhat gauge the quality of the part. I typically wait until I have a big enough order and get the free shipping too. I ordered a fuel line for my 68 flareside, and the part I got from LMC wasn't even close, despite being listed at the correct part. Was going to cost me more to ship it back than I would get in refund, so it's in a box in the garage. No idea what truck it's for.

I buy a lot from LMC. But often I shop ebay too, and Amazon Prime, because I know I can get free shipping. With LMC I just calculate that their merchandise will end up costing me 1/3 more than the price listed because of shipping. That is a high price to pay for shipping.
