I ordered a new brake and clutch bushing because mine are shot and sound like a scream if I don’t push straight down on the pedals. Am I going to need a press to get the old ones out or the new ones in?
The bushings are thin but it’s tough to get them to collapse. I usually use a hacksaw blade to cut into them a little and then use a screwdriver to get them to peel in. Once you get enough peeled in, you can knock them out with a socket.
When I install new ones, I use a long bolt or piece of all thread, a couple of big washers and a nut to press them in. Use a brake hone if your fit is too tight on the shaft.
So I got the brake/clutch piece off tonight to put new bushings in. It’s got so much grime on it that I can’t tell yet how it comes apart. I plan on cleaning it up tomorrow. Would someone save my suspense and let me know does the shaft twist out or is it pressed in?

On my pedal assm. the shaft is pinned to the casting, a pain to get out but its out. the pin was treated like a rivot if I recall correctly, sooo
some hand grinding was required to remove the "head"
