Speakers again

Hello all,

1978 f250,,, read a lot of older post.
I am upgrading my door speakers, old one shot. bought alpine Alpine R-S65.2 R-Series 6 1/2-inch Coaxial.

They do not sit in the 5" hole. the post i read said 6.5 fits and i think they will with some cutting. That said they may also be a too tall.

Does anyone recommend a nice speaker that is available and not an older discontinued model.

Also, I hate to cut the door panel but the factory plastic blocks a lot of the speaker. Has anyone cut the OE plastic and had it turn out nice? There are a few different profiles/levels to the mold and i think i will butcher it if i try to cut it.

Thanks,
Chris

Sorry I do not have a speaker suggestion, I have never seen a speaker hole cut in the door panel that looks nice. Even with a round exterior speaker cover cut to match the contours of the panel in that area. And I have seen it tried with a 6x9 speaker cover, they all look hacked up. Even seen these aftermarket door panel that have a more defined area for the speaker? https://raybuck.com/product/1973-79-...r-panels-pair/

Free cool ideas...

Raptor door panel inspired.

I fell for that 6.5” speaker thread also. Going to end up cutting the speaker pocket out of the door and weld in a bigger one.

how did they mount? when i look at the dimensions my hole is larger than the speaker

I ordered a set of Infinity Reference 6532EX,, they appear to be a lower profile.

Innovative Audio link

I will have these folks cut the door panels in my truck so I they can mount 6x9" Focal speakers.
And an ARC amp under the seat and set a Sony 8" sub next to the shifters.
I will also have them cut the dash so they can mount a nice Alpine stereo.

If there was room in the dash I'd have them install a TV but there's just not enough room.

I really enjoy a good car audio system.

Hello all,
After buying and returning a few speakers i finally installed a set of 6.5 Infinity REF-6532 in the factory door hole. They fit in the opening without interfering with the door panel.

I tried 6x9s below the door panel but they would not sit flush without interfering with the panel.

I also have 6.5s mounted behind the jump seats in the supercab.
