That seat belt bell needs to go!

Hello everyone!

I have a 1997 RANGER XLT, 2.3L, 5 spd overdrive.

When I got it a few months ago, the seats had been changed out, wires cut, etc.... The seatbelt "bell" dings for 5 groups of dings and quits when you first start up.
Later, if I drive over about 50 miles, it will start that series AGAIN.

SO....
I said that so I could ask this question....

How the heck do I turn that INFERNAL BELL OFF.....PERMANENTLY?

I buckle up every time anyway.... so I don't need that stupid bell.
The seat belt wiring is not visible due to Bubba's work before I rescued this truck.. Can I go to the area where the bell abides and unplug something?

Help.....please.

Mike

Hey Mike! Although this info comes from F-series/Broncos, it may be worth a look. If it appears that your Ranger wiring looks to be the same, you could probably remove the BR/LB wire at the chime harness connector to kill the seat belt signal. I’ve seen where it’s fairly common to just unplug the chime/buzzer altogether but it’d be nice to keep the keys-in andthe headlights-on signals intact in case you have a need for those reminders later …

YES!

Thanks so much for that info Randy!

I do want to keep the "headlights on" chime.
I am terribly bad about leaving my headlights on if my morning drive goes from needing headlights to arriving after the sun comes up.
THEN, I get out of my vehicle and come back later to a dead battery......OOPS. (This has happened while driving my '78....)

Thanks again for those diagrams!
