Air Intake Entry Point
Here is the entry point to the 5.4L 2V F-250. I have always had this low monotone sound, mostly when driving. The intake "horn" is positioned right up to or very close to the front bezel to the right of the fender. To me there should be some cutout to allow for that intake to suck the air in. Instead it seems as if it has got limited air flow, hence the low humming sound.
Does anyone have a 2002 (or other year) that is a5.4L, 2V V-8 that has this set up? Is anyone out there getting that sound of a low hum? Happens when driving and not so much at rest. Moving means more air flow and more low humming sound. I have always put up with it and even thought its vacuum related but I put my ear up to that "horn" and you hear it and the vibration too.
Any Thoughts?
